Indonesian coal to India has doubled in 2022 as the production of coal in Indonesia has ramped up. According to sources, the Asian country registered a jump in coal production by 8.9% in 2021.

Indonesia is the world’s third-largest producer of coal in the world, following China and India at the top. The demand for coal has not only increased in recent years but also significantly after COVID-19.

Indonesia’s coal exports in the past 5 years were valued at $17.8 billion in 2017, followed by$20.6 billion and $18.9 billion in 2018 and 2019 respectively, with a dramatic decline in 2020 standing at a value of $14.5 billion, and registering a drastic increase in 2021 by $11.9 billion.

As per Indonesia’s coal exports 2021, Indonesia’s top coal exporting partners are—China (34.5%), followed by India (15.4%), Japan (9.6%), Malaysia (8.9%), Philippines (8.8%), South Korea (5.4%), Taipei (4.4%), Vietnam (3.6%), Thailand (3.3%), and Hong Kong (1.8%).
